Holistic Healing for Mind and Body

At Freeman House Recovery, we recognize that addiction recovery involves far more than physical detoxification. True healing encompasses mental, emotional, and spiritual well‑being. That’s why we integrate yoga and meditation as a combined mind‑body practice that supports strength, emotional balance, and inner calm throughout the recovery journey.

The Benefits of Yoga & Meditation

At Freeman House Recovery, we recognize that addiction recovery involves far more than physical detoxification. True healing encompasses mental, emotional, and spiritual well‑being. That’s why we integrate yoga and meditation as a combined mind‑body practice that supports strength, emotional balance, and inner calm throughout the recovery journey.

  • It’s not about what it looks like, it’s about how it feels.
  • There is no race to become who you already are.
  • You’re okay, let’s begin from here.

Through Yoga Nidra, Hatha and Vinyasa practises. we teach simple tools to calm the nervous system and focus on creating a pause between a feeling and a reaction. We focus on meditation, breathwork, movement, grounding and relaxation techniques. We also have a lot of fun and many laughs exploring the bodies potential. You have no idea what you are capable of! We absolutely love seeing the mental and physical leaps and feelings of achievement that unfold on our mats.

  • Mindfulness is paying attention to what is happening inside, as well as what is happening outside. Rather than getting caught up in our thoughts, urges, emotions or physical discomfort, we focus on creating a toolkit for emotional self-regulation
  • Yoga, meditation and breathwork also work and tie in beautifully to the DBT Therapy our experienced Councillors and Therapists offer at Freeman House. With this, we are helping our clients become more comfortable sitting with difficult emotions and physical pain rather than immediately reacting to them, by building this toolkit together.
  • This can then be applied outside Freeman House, when real life gets real and sometimes messy.

This simply is not only about fitness, which is still a vital pillar and part of our offering.

In our Yoga and Movement practices, we want to enjoy exploring our strength, mobility, balance and body awareness. It is vital to become embodied again by reconnecting with the body in a positive way.

  • We learn to listen, really listen to physical cues and create meditative movement as a way of releasing tension and regulating emotion.
  • Yoga is also vital for supporting sleep, energy and general physical well-being. Helping people experience their bodies as something they can care for rather than fight against.
  • Your body is and will become another doorway into recovery.
