Dr. Monica Nthabiseng Morwe is a specialist Psychiatrist at Bophelong Psychiatric Hospital, Mafikeng. She offers her psychiatric services at Kgatelopele Wellness Centre in Mafikeng as well as Freeman Recovery House in Hartbeespoort.
Dr. Morwe completed her undergraduate medical degree (MBChB) in 2004 at Medunsa. She qualified as a specialist psychiatrist in December 2020 after
completing 4 years of training from which she attained 2 prestigious degrees: MMed Psych from the University of Pretoria as well as FC Psych (SA) from the College of Medicine of South Africa.
Besides her psychiatric qualifications, she also holds a diploma in mental health- DMH (SA) and a Diploma in Occupational Medicine and Health DOMH (UP).
Her journey toward being a psychiatrist started in 2012 when she started working as a medical officer at Bophelong Psychiatric Hospital. She found being part of a team that renders holistic care, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental health care users to be rewarding and subsequently decided to undergo specialist training in psychiatry in July 2016.
Dr. Morwe has experience in general adult psychiatry, child psychiatry, geriatric
psychiatry, Forensic psychiatry as well as training and research.
She has a special interest in mood and personality disorders, psychotic disorders, and child psychiatry as well as substance use disorders and psychopharmacology.
Dr. Morwe’s hobbies include traveling, cooking, and playing sudoko.
